and let’s talk about the Academy Award members who put their votes forward towards a category where they didn’t even bother to watch all of the nominated films

This makes me so angry and hurt. These are the people who are supposed to appreciate the art and beauty in films, what good is it if they can’t appreciate the distinct art and beauty in all films? What an insult it is to the animators and visual effects artists that spend hundred of hours crafting each detail, the storyboard artists, the writers, the people in charge of making a film that is moving art that is suitable for children but meant for families, that these members did not even take the few hours of their time, the time that is their duty as a member to dedicate to watching all the nominations, because “they’re all the same.”
And fuck you to the member who “is not interested” in them because he isn’t six. What a fucking insult to the hard jobs of thousands of people, of the dreams these movies have inspired in people around the world, and the studios who devote thier money and time to giving the public their movies just like any other movie studio. These aren’t cartoons, they should be treated like any other movie on the market.
When I was 17 Tangled and Rapunzel helped bring me out of my depression. At the age of 20 Frozen has helped rekindle the relationship I have with my sister, who is 15. The Lego Movie also helped my sister realize after months of anxiety that she is special. The Incredibles, released when my dad was in his late 30s, told him he was a superhero, and our family started to see him like one too. He still has Mr. Incredible as his icon on his work computer, with Mr. Incredible action figures on his cubicle desk.
So don’t you dare fucking tell me animated movies are for 6-year-olds. Disney and other animation studios have done more for my life and my sister’s life and the relationship I have with my family and friends than any other movie studio, period. The disinterest these supposed “movie-lovers” have in important films because they are appropriate for children makes me so mad, because they are dismissing every lesson, every dream, every bond made through these movies. They aren’t made so you can sit your child in front of a screen for a few hours (or in the members’ case, not doing his job), they’re made to awaken a sense of magic and whimsy into the lives of ANYONE watching, young and old. I’m so glad Frozen won I just wish it didn’t have to win like this. Why don’t you have people who actually appreciate the work that goes into animation vote on animated movies? Fuck you, Academy.

Happy Valentines day from the Doctor

"Hello, this is the Doctor speaking."

"It seems, I’ve landed on one of those special days you humans call holidays.  The specific one, Valentines day.

Now, for some people, Valentines is a great day.  It’s full of candy and loved ones.  They spend it with their significant others and it’s a great thing, and that’s okay.

However, for some people, Valentines day is a bit depressing.  This time of year so many people put emphasis on having a significant other and spending today with them and a lot of people just don’t.  It can bring up feelings of loneliness and depression.  For some people, Valentines day can be one of the saddest days of the year.

It’s understandable why.  There’s so much pressure on you silly humans every day to try and find the perfect mate to snog with.  Whether you be gay, straight, bi or something else, and regardless of your race or gender, everyone seems to like to put pressure on humans about the fact that they’ll be happier with a significant other.

For some people, this isn’t true.  A lot of people are perfectly happy being single.  Others, not so.

However, just remember today, even if you are single, there’s plenty of people who love you.  There’s your mom, your dad, your siblings and all the other family you have.  And don’t forget your friends in real life.  They love you too!  And your tumblr friends and followers, they all love you as well!  In fact, it seems quite a few people love you reader.

Just remember that the universe spent billions of particles to make you.  I know, I watched it all happen.  And every single one of you is important to someone.  If nobody else, you are important to me, and I’ll gladly be your Valentine.  I’ll even send a little card with a bow tie on it because let’s be honest about this, bow ties are cool.”

image

"Just remember when you are feeling down that there’s a reason for your existence.  The universe wouldn’t put all those particles together randomly without a reason.  Each one of those atoms was uniquely placed and there’s nobody else like you in the universe.  To be depressed because of something silly like one day of the year would be a waste of that fact.

You are special and unique and you don’t need a boyfriend or a girlfriend or any kind of significant other to prove that fact.  And I know depression and anxiety can be difficult to deal with, but the universe just doesn’t always care, and I like to think it’s not all as random as science likes to pretend.  I’m sure many of you were given those for a reason and you are strong enough to face it head on and fight it.

So, regardless of your relationship status today.  Regardless of anything, just know that you are special in the universe and that there’s nobody else quite like you out there.  My mun has also told me to tell you, that if any of you are feeling depressed or sad, all you need to do is shoot him an ask and he’ll talk with you through it.  Seems like a pretty sweet deal.”

image

"Anyway, I hope your day today is full of love and kindness and you spend it with all the people who make you happiest."

Stand Like This for 2 Minutes Per Day

No, for real, though—this is a thing.  Not sure about the science behind it, but it makes me feel fancy and powerful regardless.  I highly recommend it.

There actually is legit science behind this. In fact, here’s an entire TED Talk about the science behind it, and the confidence-related chemicals that your brain produces JUST BY YOU STANDING LIKE THIS.

okay, here we go…
some people are saying that justin bieber smiling in his mug shot and his “beliebers” supporting him is not harmful and, although i think it is generally agreed that it is annoying, i don’t think many people realize how incredibly infuriating it is. so let me tell you a story.
my uncle got married in like 2002. needless to say, i was young. i was like 6. but i still remember his wedding clearly because of what happened afterwards.
a car filled with my extended family was driving from the reception back to their hotel, when they were hit by a drunk driver. the driver was completely unharmed, but my family members were not. my mom’s cousin was thrown through the windshield, and she got a ton of bad, deep cuts all over from the glass, in addition to a head injury and some broken ribs. her boyfriend (who was driving) suffered a bad head injury as well. a family friend in the back seat was bruised badly, pretty much all over. but worst of all, there was an INFANT in the car. and when i say infant, i mean this baby was less than 2 months old. this was a very young and extremely helpless baby. they knew they were about to be hit about 3 seconds before it happened, and my cousin used this time to unbuckle her seatbelt and literally throw herself over the car seat to protect the baby. this was before backwards facing carseats were pretty much required for young babies. the baby was, thankfully, fine because of this, but my cousin was not. when the windshield shattered from the impact, a GIGANTIC shard of glass hit her and severed something in her spine. being young, i was not told exactly what happened, but i know this: had she not thrown herself over the car seat, the glass would have hit the baby in the head, and because she did it, she will never walk again. she’s paralyzed from the waist down because some asshole wouldn’t call a cab.
in addition to this, a couple years ago, one of my close friends lost BOTH of his parents at ONCE in a car wreck caused by a drunk driver.
so, yeah, i would say that justin bieber’s conduct and, more importantly, the blind support from his fans, is EXTREMELY harmful for society. when justin made a conscious choice to drive under the influence, he was not just putting himself in danger: he was putting EVERYONE on the road in danger. literally any living being in the area could have had the misfortune to be in his path while he drove in that condition.
when i say that i am infuriated with the situation, i am not just referring to justin bieber. i am referring to drunk driving in general. none of my relatives had had ANYTHING to drink that night. they had gone to a very lovely wedding and were on their way home, wondering aloud if the hotel pool was open late and having NO idea that their lives were about to be changed forever. this goes beyond a spoiled pop star who thinks his actions have no consequences. this is disgusting on a basic human level.
yes, i am disgusted with the way justin is acting about this, but i think i’m more disgusted with the way his fans are acting. whether it’s gathering outside of the police station to cheer for him or tweeting things with the hashtag #FreeBieber, nobody should EVER support someone who made the conscious decision to drive while under the influence. it is awful and disgusting, and downright cruel to anyone who has been or knows someone who has been the victim of a DUI-related car crash.
note that i say car CRASH and not car ACCIDENT. drunk/high driving is 100% preventable. it is not an accident.
i’m going to wrap this up now, because i know that if it’s too long, nobody will take the time to read this. if you get nothing else from this, just know that supporting justin’s decision to drive while intoxicated is just as harmful and dangerous as him actually driving under the influence. it sends the message that this is somehow okay, and it is not.
TL;DR: DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK AND DO NOT SUPPORT THE DECISIONS OF PEOPLE WHO DO. EVEN IF THEY ARE POP STARS.
